BPI

Building Performance Institute

BPI is a national standards development organization for residential energy efficiency and weatherization retrofit work. As an independent, not-for-profit organization, BPI brings together leading building science experts from across North America to develop standards using a consensus-based methodology.

Saturn is a BPI Testing Center. Our online Building Analyst course offers the training needed for people headed toward their BPI certification.

Individuals that have been trained, tested and certified to BPI's nationally recognized standards use the house-as-a-system approach to improving the performance of existing homes. This approach can reduce a home owner's annual utility bills by as much as 20% or more. That's why BPI standards or equivalent are cited by the Home Performance with ENERGY STAR® program from the Department of Energy (DOE) and the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), as well as several state Weatherization Assistance Programs.

John Krigger of Saturn was honored by his induction to the BPI Hall of Fame in 2012. He served as BPI Standards Technical Committee Chairman for almost 2 years. Saturn continues to work with BPI to develop industry standards and strict protocols, ensuring quality and consistency by the home performance and weatherization workforce.
