As a society, we have failed to use electricity efficiently in our air-conditioning systems. Air conditioning ducts are often uninsulated and they leak a lot of air. At some point, we need to improve all of our air-conditioning systems if we want to keep using them. In milder climates, we should insulate, airseal, and shade our buildings so that we can maintain comfort without air conditioning.
